Boat Winterizer-Do It Yourself, Direct Drive - (MW)
Camco 65506 Do-It-Yourself Inboard Boat Winterizing Kit
The Camco 65506 Inboard Boat Winterizing Kit provides a convenient way to flush and prepare an inboard engine's raw-water cooling system for seasonal storage. Designed for boats with a compatible thru-hull water intake, the system can be used with many direct-drive and V-drive inboard installations.
The multi-valve assembly allows the engine to run on fresh water until it reaches operating temperature. Once the thermostat opens, the cooling-system supply can be switched from fresh water to marine antifreeze without disconnecting the system. This helps replace water inside the engine block and raw-water cooling passages before freezing temperatures arrive.
Product Features
- Designed for winterizing compatible inboard marine engines
- Suitable for many direct-drive and V-drive boat installations
- Flushes particulates and impurities from the raw-water cooling system
- Separate valves control the fresh-water and antifreeze supplies
- Switches from fresh water to antifreeze without disconnecting the system
- Allows the engine to reach operating temperature before antifreeze is introduced
- Reusable components can be flushed, dried and stored after winterization
What's Included
- 12" x 7" x 3-1/2" multi-valve assembly
- 6' winterizing hose
- 5-gallon antifreeze container
- Antifreeze container hose adapter
- Installation clamps
Inboard Application
The Camco 65506 is intended for inboard boats with a compatible thru-hull raw-water intake. Direct drive and V-drive describe the boat's drivetrain arrangement; compatibility with this kit depends on the location and accessibility of the engine's raw-water intake. Inspect the boat's cooling-water intake configuration before beginning.
How It Works
Connect the winterizing system to a fresh-water supply and compatible inboard motor flusher positioned over the boat's thru-hull water intake. Run the engine at idle until it reaches operating temperature. The multi-valve assembly is then used to close the fresh-water supply while opening the antifreeze supply, directing marine antifreeze into the engine's raw-water cooling system.
What You Will Need
- Propylene-glycol marine engine winterizing antifreeze with burst protection of at least -50°F
- Fresh-water supply and garden hose
- Compatible thru-hull inboard motor flusher
Recommended Inboard Motor Flusher
For compatible boats with a thru-hull water intake, we recommend the Moeller 099085-00 Pro Inboard Motor Flusher. The flusher creates a temporary water connection over the raw-water intake beneath the boat.
Motor flusher and marine antifreeze are not included. Confirm that the flusher fits securely over the boat's raw-water intake before operating the engine.
Important Usage Information
- Read the Camco instructions and engine manufacturer's winterization procedure before beginning
- Position the antifreeze container as directed in the installation instructions
- Allow the engine to reach operating temperature before switching to antifreeze
- Operate the engine at idle during the flushing and winterization process
- Maintain an adequate supply of fresh water or antifreeze to the raw-water intake
- Shut down the engine immediately when the antifreeze container is empty
- Flush the winterizer components with fresh water and allow them to dry before storage
