General Installation Steps:
- Unscrew the old oil filter and clean the mounting base.
- Make sure the old gasket is removed from the mounting base.
- Apply a thin coat of oil to the new filter gasket.
- Make sure the gasket is seated properly in the base of the filter.
- Screw the filter on until the gasket contacts the base.
- Tighten 3/4 turn. Do not exceed 3/4 turn.
- Use an acceptable oil filter wrench if necessary.
- Refill the crankcase, run the engine, and check for leaks.
- Check the oil level after running the engine.
Maintenance Note: Change your oil and filter at least once each year, every 100 hours of normal use where recommended, or according to your owner’s manual based on hours of use and operating conditions.
