How to use Sierra 18-79820-2 Gimbal Bearing Remover Tool

• Remove outdrive per manufacturer recommended procedure or refer to appropriate Seloc manual.
• Check engine alignment with 18-4442 engine alignment tool.
• Lubricate Gimbal Bearing Removal Tool threads and bearings before installing.
• Ensure expanding jaws are in the fully closed position.
• Install Gimbal Bearing Removal Tool through the gimbal bearing so the expanding jaws can interface with the bearing inner race landing.
• Expand jaws on Gimbal Bearing Removal Tool by rotating the shaft assembly clockwise until jaws have fully engaged gimbal bearing inner race.
• Ensure plate is flat against the Gimbal Housing and not contacting the studs.
• Slowly turn the large nut on Gimbal Bearing removal tool while securing shaft assembly with wrench until Gimbal Bearing has been extracted.

NOTE: If the nut seems extremely hard to turn, the gimbal bearing may be seized in place. Continuing to turn the nut in this situation may cause tool failure. Cleaning the corrosion from the bearing and gimbal housing or shocking the bearing may free it enough to use the gimbal bearing tool without damage.
